Scott Brown Will Not Run For John Kerry’s Senate Seat

Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown will not be running for the seat held by John Kerry as was expected.

A person familiar with the decision says Brown will not run. The person wasn’t authorized to discuss the matter and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Brown was defeated in November by Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren. He had won the seat in a special election in 2010.

U.S. Reps. Edward Markey and Stephen Lynch are seeking the Democratic nomination for the seat being vacated by Kerry, who is leaving the Senate to become Secretary of State.
