Wall Street Closes At Five-Year High

Data on housing starts and jobless claims drove stocks to a five-year high.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was up 84.79 points, or 0.63 percent, at 13,596.02, according to the latest available figures. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index .SPX was up 8.32 points, or 0.56 percent, at 1,480.95. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was up 18.46 points, or 0.59 percent, at 3,136.00.
