155,000 More Jobs In December

The unemployment rate stays the same, at 7.8%. November’s rate was initially 7.7%, but was revised to 7.8%.

Private employers added 168,000 jobs last month while governments cut 13,000.

Employment totals for October and November were also revised, producing an additional gain of 14,000 jobs from what was originally reported.

Among the industries with the largest job gains last month, health care added 45,000 jobs and employment in food and drinking establishments rose by 38,000. Construction gained 30,000 jobs, and manufacturing jobs increased by 25,000.
