Add Chris Christie to those Republicans who believe Mitt Romney’s excuse that President Obama won because of “gifts” to certain constituencies was boneheaded.

“Yeah, sure,” Christie replied when asked by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough if Romney’s comments were “a terrible thing to say.” “You can’t expect to be the leader of all the people and be divisive,” Christie continued. “You have to talk about themes, policies, that unite people.”

Prominent Republican governors have united in their condemnation of Romney’s remarks, which he made in a post-election call with donors. Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal, Wisconsin’s Scott Walker and New Mexico’s Susana Martinez have also distanced themselves from the man who was their party’s standard-bearer only two weeks ago.

Christie did excuse Romney’s remarks, nothing the candidate is still feeling the disappointment.
