On Wednesday, Federal Judge Robert L. Hinkle said he will permanently block “harsh and impractical” restrictions imposed on groups who help Florida’s citizens prepare to enter the voting booth.  Voter registration has been seriously curtailed in the wake of the legislature’s attempt to unfairly limit groups who undertake this civic duty.  Estimates of the decline in voter registration are at nearly 200,000 and are suggested to have a profound impact on November’s elections.

Pending certain procedural requirements, Hinkle expects to turn the temporary injunction permanent as soon as possible.
