Florida’s Newspress.com reports that Kenneth Roop, 52, shot and killed Nick Rainey, 30, as Rainey stood on Roop’s property attempting to sell frozen food door-to-door.  Rainey (pictured) was leaving the property as Roop entered his driveway in his truck.  Allegedly he asked Rainey why he was there and said he felt “nervous.”  Roop then allegedly used a Glock to fire one round into Rainey’s shoulder and Rainey fell to the ground.  Roop, who told authorities that Rainey was protesting in “an antagonistic manner,” is alleged to have aimed at the back of Rainey’s head to fire one more fatal shot as he told authorities, “for effect.”

Roop was previously well known to authorities for gun-related charges years earlier (pulling a firearm and pointing it as a utilities employee) and from numerous calls to local police,  and told authorities he may own as many as 14 firearms.  When asked whether Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” laws would be invoked as a defense, his attorney indicated that all avenues would be explored.
