Colorado Massacre Stuns Nation

A gunman opened fire last night in a midnight premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises,”  killing 14 people and injuring at least 50 others, according to police officers at the scene.

Witnesses said that the gunman kicked in an emergency exit  door and threw a smoke bomb into the theater before opening fire.

Police have identified 24-year-old James Holmes as a suspect and have him in custody.

President Obama released a statement about the tragedy from Florida, where he will spend the day campaigning.
