Arizona Sheriff Arpaio Still Beating The Birther Drum

Maybe it’s to distract attention from his own problems.

Amid accussations of racial profiling and excessive force by the Justice Department, the Maricopa County sheriff announced at a news conference Tuesday that ‘probable cause exists’ that Obama’s birth certificate and Selective Service registration card are fraudulent…

“At the very least, I can tell you this, based on all of the evidence presented and investigated, I cannot in good faith report to you that these documents are authentic,” he said. “My investigators believe that the long-form birth certificate was manufactured electronically and that it did not originate in a paper format as claimed by the White House.”

…The Arizona Republic noted that Arpaio’s press conference comes just two days before the civil-rights case against his agency is set to begin. Arpaio, who has dubbed himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” is famous for attention-grabbing stunts like forcing inmates to wear pink underwear and running all-female chain gangs.
