ABC Report: Tim Pawlenty, Not Marco Rubio, Being Looked At For VP

That’s what Jonathan Karl is reporting.

Karl noted that this development is a surprise given all the buzz surrounding Rubio, whom host George Stephanopoulos noted had been described as the “most electrifying” and “most solid” of the crop.

That said, Rubio has not been asked to fill out even preliminary forms or to turn over any background materials.

Stephanopoulos then noted that other GOP politicians are being considered for the role, Paul Ryan and Tim Pawlenty among them — adding that the Romney people are searching for someone who is a “safe choice.”
