House Looking At Banning Sex-Selective Abortions

Republican Trent Franks of Arizona is on the case.

“The people of this country are overwhelmingly for this bill, and liberals are going to have to make up their mind whether they are so committed to abortion on demand that they think that includes killing little girls because they are little girls,” Franks said.

Under his proposal, physicians who perform sex-selective abortions would face heavy fines and up to five years in jail.

So this would force doctors to find out why a woman is having an abortion, and if there is any suspicion that the motive isn’t the right one, the doctor goes to jail. Anti-choicers seem to think liberals want to have abortions based on gender (and only liberals get abortions, right?). I don’t know who, exactly favors aborting fetuses based on gender. Another bigger-government solution for a problem that doesn’t exist.
