Katie Couric has extended an open invitation to Sarah Palin to appear on her forthcoming talk show.

Couric also said she had “no regrets” about the interviews she held with Palin in 2008 for CBS News, which introduced the woefully unprepared vice presidential nominee to national audiences in an unfavorable light.

“I don’t need a do-over. I’m very proud I was doing my job, and when someone is running for the second highest office in the land, I think it’s important to ask pointed, challenging questions, as I do for all candidates,” she said.

The relationship between Couric and Palin have been fraught since those 2008 interviews. Palin criticized Couric for “gotcha journalism,” and again took a minor swipe at Couric when she left CBS.
