Apparently, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had deported Jakadrien in April of 2011.
After Jakadrien ran away she made her way to Houston, where she was arrested for theft and then gave the police a fake name.
When police ran the name, it belonged to a 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Colombia who had several warrants.
The ICE took Jakadrien’s fingerprints but didn’t go all the way to confirm her identify and deported her. The Colombian government released her after giving her a work card.
“She talked about how they had her working in this big house cleaning all day, and how tired she was,” said her grandmother.
Her grandmother eventually found her on Facebook with the help of US. Embassy officials. But she remains trapped in Colombia.
[T]he Colombian government now has her in a detention facility and won’t release her, despite her family’s request.
“I feel like she will come home,” the grandmother said with tears in her eyes. “I just need help and prayer.”
