I love the metaphysics of July 4th.

As a nation, we celebrate the day we declared independence rather than the day when we actually won it.  We held truths to be self-evident on July 4, 1776 but the Treaty of Paris wasn’t signed with England until September 3, 1783.

It’s as if freedom was fulfilled by just putting it in writing and the war was a necessary evil to see it come to fruition.   Huge life lesson here about the power of intention.

But getting back to basics, do you think self-declared America Lovers such as the Palins and the Bachmanns of the world even know about this little tidbit of our history?
