Mitt Romney Claims He Didn’t Say What He Said

Mitt Romney is backing off statements that President Obama made the economy worse. Asked Thursday why he believes the president made the economy worse when the economy is growing, the Dow is rising, and unemployment is a point below where it was in October, 2009, Romney claimed:

“I didn’t say that things are worse.”

Oh, but he did, on multiple occasions.  Most recently, in New Hampshire, this past Monday:

“The people of New Hampshire have waited long enough. They want to see good jobs. They want to see rising incomes. They want to see an economy that’s growing again, and the president’s failed. He did not cause this recession, but he made it worse.”

And, in the New Hampshire debate:

“He didn’t create the recession, but he made it worse and longer.”

Romney is shamelessly running away from a statement he now knows he can’t back up.
