Back in August of 2007, Senator Barack Obama, candidate for U.S. president, made it clear that Pakistan’s borders wouldn’t act as impediments to American efforts to capture or kill Osama bin Laden:

“There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans… If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won’t act, we will.”

Conservatives who heard Obama’s address were shocked. Amazed. Stunned! Rush Limbaugh:

Wow. In this speech, he also said that if Musharraf doesn’t do the right thing over there and clean out these terrorists in the mountainous regions, he’s going to go in there and do it himself. He would invade Pakistan. Now, the military futility of that is crazy. They have a 39 million-man army in Pakistan. They have nuclear weapons. They play a vital role for us. If you look at the map of that region, you find that there’s no suitable replacement for Pakistan if we alienate them in order to base ourselves for staging operations to re-supply troops in Iraq and so forth. Just from that sense, this is a nonsensical thing.

Michelle Malkin:

Looks like the laughingstock Democrat presidential candidates have been eating their Wheaties. Yesterday, it was John Edwards flexing his imaginary muscles at Saudi Arabia. Today, it’s Barack Obama shaking his fist at Pakistan. ABC News reports on the first-term senator’s latest, greatest “bold” idea–invading Pakistan unilaterally. Diplomacy, international law, and the U.N. be damned! Behold, Obama the Cowboy . .

Ooooooh. Scaaaary. Is there anything more pathetic than a defeatist retreatist trying to sound tough on terror?

Snicker. Snort. Guffaw.

Australian mega-blogger, Andrew Bolt:

Let me sum up the latest foreign policy babblings of wanna-be boy president Barack Obama.

The hot contender for the Democrat nomination wants to yank US troops out of Iraq, where they are slowly winning, and invade instead … Pakistan? . .

Coming just after his promise to meet foreign tyrants ”without precondition”, I’d say Obama is finished as a serious contender.
