Rick Santorum Swears “Most Seniors . . Are More Than Willing” To Sacrifice Their Medicare Plan

The Fiscal Unicorn Brigade continues its siege of America.

After Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Sparklepony Heights) unveiled his Tea Party inspired “Path to Prosperity,” fevered wingnuts have overrun the media with their grenades of Atlantis, jackalope cannons and cold fusion blasters blazing. Their war cry? “America! What a great deal this is for you!”

Yesterday, Rick Santorum phoned in to Sean Hannity’s radio show just to take that message further. While Ryan’s proposal guts Medicaid and drastically slashes Medicare, it exempts anyone currently age 55 or older from the pain and anxiety of such reductions.

“How ridiculous is that?” Santorum thought. “I know our seniors! They’d love to give up their healthcare!”

“My big argument with Paul Ryan is that he doesn’t apply a lot of these programs to the current generation of seniors, or those who are at or near retirement. And I think that presupposes that a lot of those current seniors don’t want to participate in the economic solvency of our country. Don’t want to participate in saving our country. I think that’s wrong. I think most seniors –- certainly those that can afford to –- are more than willing to do their fair share to solve their problem.”

No, I won’t add a debunking link — the assertion rates right-wing Jedi fantasy. Speaking of which: Rick just announced the launch of an exploratory committee for his 2012 presidential campaign.
