In WH Meeting, Boehner Refuses Compromise To Keep Government Operating
The president also noted that he and the Democrats are offering $73 billion in budget cuts, including “programs that we care deeply about.”
On the other hand, Obama said he will not cut programs that are essential to growing the economy and creating, including education, infrastructure, and research and development. He said nobody can expect to get “100% of what they want.”
In criticizing “ideology,” Obama criticized Republican attachments to budget bills that would changes to abortion policy and the enforcement powers of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Boehner’s statement referenced the fact that most of the Democrats’ $73 billion involves budget items that have never passed; the cuts from existing budgets are more like $33 billion.
