South Dakota Governor Signs 3-Day Wait Law For Abortion
Within minutes of Daugaard’s announcement that he had signed the measure, abortion rights groups said they plan to file a lawsuit challenging the measure, which one said could create particular hardships for women who live in rural areas hundreds of miles from the state’s only abortion clinic in Sioux Falls.
Defending the law will cost the state $1.7 million. Charles Johnson at LGF points out that those supporting the law claim their goal is to make sure women aren’t “coerced into abortions.” Can you imagine a law being passed in this country telling men they must have a waiting period before an elective procedure and that they also must go get counseling?
