SCOTUS Agrees “In God We Trust” On Coins Has Nothing To Do With Establishing Religion

Michael Newdow, who brought suit to stop schools from having children recite the Pledge of Allegiance, wanted the Supreme Court to hear his case that the words “In God We Trust” don’t belong on U.S. currency. The court has decided not to hear the case, leaving standing the 9th Circuit Court’s decision that the words are ceremonial and patriotic, and “has nothing whatsoever to do with the establishment of religion.”
