Indiana GOP Caves: Ends Right-To-Work Push

Indiana’s Republican Senate President Pro Tem David Long says the right-to-work legislation “was a mistake” and won’t be reintroduced.

Long said he advised House Speaker Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, against pursuing the legislation “because of the chance it would blow up the session and we would have exactly the reaction we have out there.”

House Democrats on Tuesday fled the state, denying majority Republicans the ability to act on bills on a key deadline day for action. Meanwhile, hundreds of union workers have been at the Statehouse all week protesting the proposal — and other legislation they say is meant to kill unions.
