Mom Who Confessed To Massacre Of Her Children Said Three-Day Gun Wait Delayed It

Julie Schenecker of Tampa, who confessed to killing her teenage son and daughter, wrote a note where she stated that a three-day waiting period before she could take the gun home would “delay the massacre.” Authorities say Schenecker bought a .38-caliber revolver the weekend before the shootings.

She is accused of shooting her children, 16-year-old Calyx and 13-year-old Beau, for being ‘mouthy,’ and faces charges of first-degree murder. Her arraignment has not yet been scheduled.

Details are emerging about Schenecker’s treatment of her children.

Mrs Schenecker told investigators they argued when Calyx wouldn’t tell her what she’d bought at a grocery store.

She claimed her daughter told her to ‘stay out of my business’ and that ‘you’re disgusting’ and ‘not my parent’.

She didn’t deny hitting the teenager, telling police that she ‘backhanded her daughter three times’.

Calyx also reportedly told police her mother hit her so hard in the mouth a month earlier that she started bleeding, but she didn’t report the assault to police at the time.

(Note: This corrects an earlier post where it was mistakenly stated the three-day wait would have prevented the massacre.)
