Anderson Cooper And CNN Crew Attacked In Cairo

Mediaite has the footage of Anderson Cooper and his crew being attacked while covering the demonstrations in Cairo.

CNN just released video of Anderson Cooper and his CNN crew getting attacked by what can only be described an unruly mob on the streets of Cairo as we’d reported earlier. Cooper told CNN hosts via the telephone “I would be an idiot if I wasn’t frightened.”

One of the objectives of the instigators seems to be to stifle the live coverage that is coming from a very fluid situation in Cairo. While the situation in Egypt has been fragile, today it took a turn for the dramatic as pro-Mubarak protesters clashed with anti-regime protesters throughout the streets of Cairo, often in violent fashion.

The video clip below illustrates both how chaotic the scene in Cairo is right now, as well as the relatively brave and calm reaction by Cooper and his crew. You can hear the CNN anchor repeatedly claim “calm down” to non-English speaking protesters as they look for cover from the angry mob.
