Tucson police have issued a surveillance photo of a second suspect in the Arizona shooting that critically injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed six others.

Clarence Dupnik, sheriff of Pima County, told a news conference on Saturday that authorities were searching for a second individual who was a “person of interest” in the investigation.

The picture shows a white male with dark hair, dressed in blue jeans and a dark blue jacket, who is approximately 40 to 50 years old.

The man is apparently walking into a store with his hands in his pockets.

Dupnik has a theory about what has led to this tragedy:

…Dupnik, who is in charge of the probe into the attack, has blamed a climate of vitriol for creating the circumstances in which the shooting took place.

Arizona, he said, had become a mecca for prejudice and bigotry.

“The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous,” he said.

UPDATE: The “person of interest” has been cleared.
