Christine O’Donnell Blames George Soros For AP Story On Federal Probe

After the Associated Press reported that Christine O’Donnell is the focus of a federal probe about alleged misuse of campaign money, she issued a statement blaming George Soros.

O’Donnell’s campaign manager said Wednesday that he was unaware of any investigation and accused “the George Soros-funded CREW” and liberal groups of attempting to “intimidate and threaten” O’Donnell.

“If anything does materialize from this rumor, we will continue to fully cooperate as we have made every attempt to ensure we are in compliance with all the rules and regulations,” Matt Moran said in a statement.

O’Donnell also released a statement saying she was “warned by multiple high-ranking Democrat insiders that the Delaware Democrat and Republican political establishment is jointly planning to pull out all the stops to ensure I would never again upset the apple cart.”

It is never O’Donnell’s fault, whatever happens. In addition to George Soros, she is blaming Vice President Biden for her woes, blamed  Karl Rove for her Senate loss, and  the liberal media for “character assassination.” Yet it’s her own former aides who have pointed fingers her way concerning misuse of funds:

One former O’Donnell staffer, Kristin Murray, recorded an automated phone call for the Delaware Republican Party just before the primary, accusing O’Donnell of “living on campaign donations — using them for rent and personal expenses, while leaving her workers unpaid and piling up thousands in debt.”

Another former aide, David Keegan, said he became concerned about O’Donnell’s 2008 campaign finances as she fell behind on bills and had no apparent source of income besides political contributions. He submitted an affidavit to CREW alleging that she used campaign money to cover meals, gas, a bowling outing, and rent to a landlord, Brent Vasher.
