Joe Lieberman Wants New York Times Investigated

It’s never good when a high powered government official wants a press organ investigated. Someone should remind Joe Lieberman of that, and wave a copy of the First Amendment in front of him.  Lieberman thinks the New York Times may have violated the Espionage Act by printing WikiLeaks documents. It is a very high bar to prosecute a publication for printing already-released information, as we learned in New York Times Co. v United States after the release of the Pentagon Papers.

Lieberman had this to say on FOX News (via Cutline):

“I’m not here to make a final judgment on that,” Lieberman said. “But to me the New York Times has committed at least an act of bad citizenship, but whether they have committed a crime, I think that bears very intensive inquiry by the Justice Department.
