Helen Thomas made a quite unpopular comment in a speech in Dearborn, MI, on the issue of anti-Arab bias. Speaking near her hometown of Detroit, she said:

“We are owned by propagandists against the Arabs. There’s no question about that. Congress, the White House, and Hollywood, Wall Street, are owned by the Zionists. No question in my opinion. They put their money where there mouth is…

As a result, Wayne State decided to rescind its “Spirit of Diversity” award to Thomas.

In a statement Friday, the Detroit school says it “encourages free speech and open dialogue,” but strongly condemns what it says are “anti-Semitic remarks” made by Thomas on Thursday.
