No, Mr. Boehner, Extending Middle Class Tax Cuts Is Not “Chicken Crap”

The House passed tax cuts for all but the wealthiest Americans, in spite of protestations of incoming House Speaker John Boehner that such a move would be  “chicken crap” (video below).  The vote was 234-188, with 20 Democrats acting like Republicans and voting against it.

Republicans, who want an extension of the lower rates at all income levels, framed the vote as one that would raise taxes on small-business owners who create jobs.

After a White House meeting Tuesday, a bipartisan group continues to work on a compromise that could potentially extend all tax rates on a short-term basis.

President Obama, speaking to a group of newly elected governors, said he remained optimistic a deal could be reached.
