Private sector jobs were added for a tenth straight month, with 151,000 jobs having been added to non-farm payrolls.

Employers added 151,000 jobs last month after a revised decrease of 41,000 in September, the Labor Department reported today. The median forecast of 83 economists in a Bloomberg News survey was for 60,000 more jobs. The unemployment rate stayed at 9.6 percent.

In the private sector alone, 159,000 jobs were added, offset by a loss of 8,000 government jobs.
