Senator Jim DeMint Vows Not To Fund Health Care Reform

South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint is urging House Republicans not to fund the Affordable Health Care Act and says if President Obama opposes Republicans on this, there will be a showdown.

DEMINT: We don’t have to defund it, we just don’t have to pass the funding for it. The majority in the House can control the appropriation bills and we can just not include in those appropriation bills the funding for the implementation of ObamaCare. The president may fight us on it and it could be a very intense show down. But Republicans are in a position now to make sure no funding goes forward for Obamacare.

The problem for DeMint and his allies is the funding is mandated by law as an entitlement, and the law would have to be changed for him to get his way.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is also urging Republicans to repeal the law.
