Christine O’Donnell Refuses To Debate Without Questions In Advance [Updated]

The first candidates forum in the Delaware races is at the Siegel Jewish Community Center Thursday night, but the one candidate who refuses to appear is Christine O’Donnell.

…Christine O’Donnell’s spokesman Evan Quietsch went on the Rick Jensen Show yesterday afternoon on WDEL, and said that O’Donnell will not show up unless she was provided all the questions to be asked of the candidates before hand. Jensen, a right wing conservative radio host, was absolutely shocked and said that has never been done before at any debate that he attended or moderated.

A local Democrat adds:

But, if I remember correctly, most of the questions at past JCC debates have been asked by the audience, making it naturally impossible to give questions to O’Donnell beforehand. Further, if I also remember correctly, Christine O’Donnell attacked Joe Biden in 2008 at the very same JCC forum for not showing up to debate her. How ironic and hypocritical it will be for O’Donnell to back out in 2010.

UPDATE: O’Donnell did appear at the candidate forum, where she tried to distance herself from past comments she made during many media appearances.

“These questions come from statements I made over 15 years ago,” O’Donnell said, the local Fox affiliate reports. “I was in my 20s, and very excited and passionate about my newfound faith. But I assure you, my faith has matured.”

(Fact check: Many of these statements are less than 15 years old — ranging from her appearance on MTV 14 years ago to promote the anti-masturbation cause, to speaking out against the promotion of condom usage just four years ago. And of course, let’s not forget her speaking out three years ago in opposition to stem cell research, citing the purported fact that scientists have already created mice with human brains.)
