The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida is no stranger to controversy, having previously spewed forth its hateful message through children’s T-shirts reading “Islam Is Of The Devil” as well as a “No Homo Mayor” sign in opposition to then-candidate (now Gainesville’s mayor) Craig Lowe, who is gay.  Now the “church” (and I use that term very loosely) is taking another swipe at Muslims everywhere by promoting “International Burn A Koran Day,” scheduled, no doubt quite deliberately, for September 11.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is calling on American Muslims to respond to a Florida church’s planned “International Burn a Koran Day” by hosting educational “Share the Quran” Ramadan fast-breaking dinners (iftars) at which copies of Islam’s holy text will be distributed to neighbors, public and law enforcement officials and journalists. (The month-long Islamic fast of Ramadan will begin in August.)

Representatives of the Dove World Outreach Center … say they will burn a Quran outside the church on September 11 and are encouraging others to follow their example.

To get the word out about this “event,” Dove is reaching out to its fellow hatemongers through Facebook and a video by “pastor” Wayne Sapp.  Meanwhile, CAIR is countering with its own YouTube video on its “Explore the Quran” campaign.

Looks like Sapp is trying to give Fred Phelps and the disgusting Westboro Baptist Church a run for their money…not to mention their revolting bigotry.
