Palin Calls Boxer “Silly Senator”
Sarah Palin is using Twitter to promote the California Senate candidacy of Carly Fiorlina.
Of course, what’s really going on is right-wing opposition to energy reform legislation, and against a Senate vote against an effort against the authority of the EPA to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski wanted to infringe on the EPA’s ability to protect the environment.
Murkowski argued the debate shouldn’t be about science surrounding climate change, but rather should be focused on who has the power to reduce greenhouse gases.
Opponents saw the resolution as a bailout for Big Oil, while Murkowski claimed it was meant as a check on the EPA’s “regulatory ambition.”
The resolution to bar the EPA from imposing climate change regulation under the Clean Air Act failed on a 53-to-47 vote. Six Democrats supported the resolution, and all Republicans backed Murkowski.
President Obama was going to veto Murkowski’s measure if it had gained approval.
