BP CEO: “I Want My Life Back.” Sorry Tony, So Do the 11 Lives Lost On April 20

BP’s CEO Tony Hayward says, “Nobody wants this thing over more than I do. I’d like my life back.”  How sensitive, given the lives lost and ruined by his company’s tanker.  What a shame that he’s been inconvenienced.  Think Progress has a few of Hayward’s statements that show is utter tone deafness to what is happening.

“What the hell did we do to deserve this?” [New York Times, 4/30/10]

“The Gulf of Mexico is a very big ocean. The amount of volume of oil and dispersant we are putting into it is tiny in relation to the total water volume.” [Guardian, 5/14/10]

“I think the environmental impact of this disaster is likely to be very, very modest.” [Sky News, 5/18/10]
