Absolutely Clueless

Reminiscent of the infamous Rick Santelli rant credited for starting the Tea Party “movement,” there’s a report from the Business Insider site of an even nastier anonymous little email circulating on Wall Street.

The gist of it is a “Going Galt” fantasy of what would happen if stockbrokers were forced out of their jobs by us evil liberals and the Obama administration. As if we ever had that intention in the first place.

Turns out that the ones hurting if that were to happen, according to this email, would be us regular folks and not the Business Gods of the Universe of Wall Street:

“Go ahead and continue to take us down, but you’re only going to hurt yourselves. What’s going to happen when we can’t find jobs on the Street anymore? Guess what: We’re going to take yours. We get up at 5am & work till 10pm or later. We’re used to not getting up to pee when we have a position. We don’t take an hour or more for a lunch break. We don’t demand a union. We don’t retire at 50 with a pension. We eat what we kill, and when the only thing left to eat is on your dinner plates, we’ll eat that.”

OK, I’ll take that bet. Supposedly they work from 5am – 10 pm? Well, that’s not really all that bad when you’ve parked your ass in a comfy chair in an air conditioned office talking on the phone and typing on a keyboard.

My offer to them is to try the job I retired from after 21 years for just a week. I am a retired letter carrier and for most of those 21 years I walked (or rather, quick-marched) seven miles a day, 5 days a week or more. I did this carrying 35 pounds or more on my arm and in a satchel, up and down stairs in all kinds or weather: 100 degree heat, ice and snow, rain downpours, etc. while dodging traffic and neighborhood dogs.

I guarantee these “hardworking” Wall Street types would be in tears at the end of the first day.

It gets better from them too:

“So now that we’re going to be making $85k a year without upside, Joe Mainstreet is going to have his revenge, right? Wrong! Guess what: we’re going to stop buying the new 80k car, we aren’t going to leave the 35 percent tip at our business dinners anymore. No more free rides on our backs. We’re going to landscape our own back yards, wash our cars with a garden hose in our driveways. Our money was your money. You spent it. When our money dries up, so does yours.”

Yeah, we Main Street “losers” are lying in wait for those crumbs off your table.

Class warfare at its finest here – the thing is that the upper class types have been winning it for decades and they have the nerve to whine about it.

Can I get a “Eat the Rich” Hallelujah?
