Limbaugh: Conservatives Love America “And Want To Save It From Those Who Do Not”

In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Rush Limbaugh continues the oft-stated right-wing talking point that people on his political side of the fence love America much more than do liberals.

Now the liberals run the government and they’re using their power to implement their radical agenda. Mr. Obama and his party believe that the election of November 2008 entitled them to make permanent, “transformational” changes to our society. In just 16 months they’ve added more than $2 trillion to the national debt, essentially nationalized the health-care system, the student-loan industry, and have their sights set on draconian cap-and-trade regulations on carbon emissions and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Obama was elected on “change.” The debt was added to when George W. Bush, who Limbaugh supported, bailed out the financial institutions.  Health care has not been nationalized, and Obama and other Democrats backed off even a competing public insurance entity. And wasn’t it Ronald Reagan, hero to the right, who gave amnesty to millions of undocumented workers?

I do not hate the government, as the left does when it is not running it. I love this country. And because I do, I insist that the temporary inhabitants of high political office comply with the Constitution, honor our God-given unalienable rights, and respect our hard-earned private property.

Doesn’t the right hate this government when it’s not running it? It was Limbaugh, himself, who said he wanted it to fail. And where were he and other conservatives when the last administration, which they supported, went to war without a constitutionally-mandated declaration and was shot down five times by the Supreme Court on the issue of detainees.

I reject the notion that America is in a well-deserved decline, that she and her citizens are unexceptional.

Guess what? Me too! Same as most liberals and other Americans.

I do not believe America is the problem in the world.

Me neither!

I believe America is the solution to the world’s problems.

It can be, but not at the point of a gun.

A clear majority of the American people want no part of this. They instinctively know that the Obama way is not how things get done in this country. They are motivated by love. Not hate, not sedition. They love their country and want to save it from those who do not.

Funny, a clear majority of Americans elected Obama not too long ago. And the ones who continue to call him a socialist, a Marxist and/or a communist are not motivated by love. Neither is someone who says he hopes he fails.
