White House Not Amused By Arizona’s “Birther” Legislation

In a brazen move to force President Obama to produce his already produced birth certificate, the state of Arizona has submitted new legislation that would require all presidential candidates to prove they were born in the United States. The bizarre measure will move onto the Arizona state Senate for consideration before it can become law.

This issue should have been put handily to rest when the Obama campaign released then-Senator Obama’s birth certificate during the 2008 presidential campaign.  Since then, however, people like Leo Donofrio, Orly Taitz and Lou Dobbs have pushed onward demanding proof in what’s become known as the Birther Movement.

One point of irony to all of this is the fact that Senator John McCain was born on a military installation in the Canal Zone, which means more you’d think more questions might have been asked about his origins.   This information was dismissed by most on the right with so much as a “So?“, the argument being McCain was born on a military installation, which in their minds means he is absolutely a “natural-born citizen.”  Of course, because McCain is the son of a military man his place of birth did not disqualify him; but it never even became an issue.

On the Obama issue, proof just doesn’t seem to be enough, as they dismiss anything provided as false and fake.  The White House is at its peak with frustration.

“This is a question that has been answered exhaustively,” White House spokesman Bill Burton told CNN. “I can’t imagine Arizona voters think their tax dollars are well served by a legislature that is less focused on their lives than in fringe right-wing radio conspiracy theories.”
