Idaho Census Worker Warned Off By Gunfire While Trying To Deliver Census Form
An Idaho man fired his shotgun today near a census worker who was doing his job delivering census forms.
Fifty-4-year-old Richard L. Powell of St. Maries faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The Benewah County Prosecutor’s office says that on March 3 Powell told the census worker to get off his property and then fired a shotgun into the air.
Powell’s pretrial conference is scheduled for April 26 at the Benewah County Courthouse.
Perhaps Powell was channeling CNN’s Erick Erickson, who made a very controversial comment about what he might do if a census worker came to his house.
Erickson: “I’ll “[p]ull out my wife’s shotgun” if they try to arrest me for not filling out the American Community Survey.
