Washington State Man Charged With Threatening Life Of Senator Patty Murray Over Health Care Support

Charles Allen Wilson was charged in Yakima, WA, of threatening to Kill Senator Patty Murray because of her support for health care.

An FBI agent’s probable cause statement says Murray’s office in Seattle reported the threats, which were left on voice mail from a blocked telephone number. Agents say they traced the calls to Wilson’s home in Selah, near Yakima.

Murray’s office told the FBI that it had been receiving harassing messages from the caller for months, but they became more threatening as Congress was voting on health care legislation.

Excerpts of the expletive-laced messages transcribed in court documents show the caller saying he wanted to kill the senator, and it would just take one piece of lead.

In one of the messages, Wilson allegedly said, “I want to (expletive) kill you.”

Wilson told undercover FBI agents that he regularly carries a firearm with a concealed weapons permit. He also stated that he was extremely angry about the passage of the health care reform legislation.

Threatening a federal official is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
