A Republican National Committee staffer has been dismissed because of a February visit to the topless West Hollywood bondage club, Voyeur (pictured), after which the aide submitted the almost $2000 tab for reimbursement.

RNC communications director Doug Heye issued a statement disavowing any connection to Chairman Michael Steele, and added:

“The committee has taken appropriate steps to address the issues relating to the reimbursement of certain expenses. First, as reported, the expenditure in question will be recouped by the R.N.C. Second, appropriate personnel actions have been taken and accounting and reimbursement processes are being revised to ensure that such an action cannot reoccur. We recognize the difficulty this incident has caused and assure our members and supporters that any necessary and proper remediation is being implemented immediately.

“It is unfortunate that a loyal G.O.P. donor who has recruited other donors became involved in this incident while merely trying to help what turned out to be the improper request of a staffer who is no longer with the committee.”

The Hill identifies the aide as Allison Meyers, director of the Young Eagles program for young donors.  The jaunt to the topless club wiped stories about spending $30,000 in February on private airplanes and limousines off the map.
