Georgia Congressman Paul Broun Insists Bill Covers Illegal Immigrants, Even As He Admits It Says It Doesn’t

Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia guested with me in the Strategy Room at and continued to repeat right-wing talking points that do not represent what the bill actually says.  He claimed people would be forced out of private insurance, even though it is clear that you get to keep your current plan.

At the end of this clip, he insists the bill covers illegal immigrants, and when I point out that it says otherwise, he doesn’t disagree, but that’s not good enough for him.

COLMES: Illegal aliens do not get covered in this bill. There’s no coverage for illegal aliens in this bill, Congressman.

BROUN: Oh, C’mon, Alan.

COLMES: It’s not in the bill. They are specifically not covered in this bill.

BROUN: Well, the text says that, but how do we know?
