Damage At Congressman’s Brother’s Home After Tea Partier Posted Address

On my radio show Tuesday night, Mike Troxel (pictured) of the Lynchburg, VA Tea Party defended posting what he thought was the home address of Democratic Congressman Tom Perriello.  However, it was the address of Periello’s brother, Bo, that wound up on Troxel’s website.  Opponents of health care reform were asked to drop by and “express their thanks” for Periello’s vote. Troxel’s defense was that the Congressman was unreachable at his office, not responding to phone calls, and refusing to explain his pro-heath care reform vote to his electorate.  Now, the FBI is investigating the severing of a gas line at the home of Bo Droxel.

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that at least 10 members of Congress have requested extra security due to recent threats.

Perriello’s office confirmed that a line to a propane tank on a gas grill was cut at Bo Periello’s Charlottesville home on Monday.

Congressman Perriello has issued this statement:

“My number one priority right now is ensuring the safety of my brother’s family, and I am grateful to law enforcement for their excellent work. While it is too early to say anything definitive regarding political motivations behind this act, it’s never too early for political leaders to condemn threats of violence, particularly as threats to other Members of Congress and their children escalate. And so I ask every member of House and Senate leadership to state unequivocally tonight that it is never OK to harm or threaten elected officials and their families with anything more than political retribution. Here in America, we settle our political differences at the ballot box.”

The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s office is assisting the FBI. Perhaps taxpayers ought to let the tea partiers know how much they appreciate how their local resources, which they’re paying for, are being spent.
