On the eve of the Health Care Reform legislation vote, Republicans have upped their rhetoric from downright mean to borderline bizarre.  From the floor of the House of Representatives last night, Rep. Paul Broun, well-known for his unsubstantiated propaganda against President Obama, claimed “ObamaCare” is a “Free Insurance Card” for all (this isn’t in the bill).  He called the bill “as worthless as a Confederate dollar after the ‘Great War of Yankee Aggression’.”

BROUN:  If ObamaCare passes, that free insurance card that’s in people’s pockets is gonna be as worthless as a Confederate dollar after the War Between The States — the Great War of Yankee Aggression.

In lockstep with his Republican colleagues, Congressman Broun has resorted to scare tactics and suppositions in lieu of actual facts and data in his fight against reform.  One might think he’d fear for his credibility, however this more frequent status quo of Republican argumentum has been surprisingly successful in rallying citizens in support of their causes. Broun’s comments shouldn’t be surprising given his previous comments, such as uncertainty that Obama is  U.S. citizen, comparing Obama to Hitler, claiming climate change is a hoax, and slamming the president to the ground in effigy.
