Utah GOP Leader Resigns After Skinny-Dip Confession

Kevin Garn, Majority Leader of the Utah House, has resigned after admitting to a nude dip in a hot tub with a teenager 25 years ago.

Republican Rep. Kevin Garn said Saturday that stepping down is in the best interests of his family, his colleagues and the people of Utah.

In an e-mail message to House Speaker David Clark, Garn apologized for becoming a distraction.

Was the nude hot tub party the problem or was it the $150,000 Garn paid the woman in hush money when he ran for Congress unsuccessfully in 2002? Cheryl Maher, now 40, was 15 at the time, and Garn was 30. Maher says his resignation is appropriate.
