Oklahoma’s GOP Leaders Don’t like Being Told They Can’t Legally Abuse Their LGBT Citizens

The Oklahoma state Senate obviously doesn’t understand the purpose of federal crimes hate legislation for they’ve taken it upon themselves to approve an amendment designed to opt out of federal hate crimes protections for its LGBT community.  Call me crazy, but the primary reason for this legislation is to ensure fair treatment and equal rights for those who legally enjoy an alternative lifestyle.

Oklahoma Sen. Steve Russell: “The law is very vague to begin with,” Russell said. “Sexual orientation is a very vague word that could be extended to extremes like necrophilia.”

I suppose Russell’s logic could be considered sound if he happened to live in the seventeenth century, but most people to who possess a modicum of common sense and the ability to think would surely be able to make a clear definition between those two “lifestyles.”
