What Is The Proper Length For A Health Care Proposal?

After complaining that the health care reform bills are too long, House Minority Leader John Boehner now says President Obama’s proposal is too short.  (via Think Progress).  Boehner said in October: “All you need to know is there are 1,990 pages… That should tell you everything.” Now, Boehner says the president’s plan is too short, according to his spokesman.

“The White House’s ‘plan’ consists of an 11-page outline, which has not been scored by the Congressional Budget Office or posted online as legislative text. So they want to reorganize one-sixth of the United States’ economy with a document shorter than a comic book, and they’re complaining that they can’t find our plan on their own website? C’mon,” said the spokesman, Michael Steel, in an email to reporters.

Solution: John Conyers’ HR 676, the single payer bill, which is 30 pages.
