Abortion Opponents Want Human Rights For Embryos

The Virginia-based American Life League is pushing an amendment to the Florida Constitution that would define a “person” as being in existence from “the beginning of the biological development.”  This being called the “Personhood Amendment“. (The photo at right shows an 8-cell embryo)

Florida is one of several states being targeted by the Roman Catholic group.

Voters in Colorado rejected a similar proposal last year, but another attempt is being made to get it back on the ballot there next year. Efforts to get the proposal on the ballot failed in Georgia and Oregon last year. North Dakota lawmakers this year rejected a personhood bill.

Can’t Florida find its own nuts to do this? It has to import insanity from Virginia? Are they sure they want rights for all embryos?  What about the gay ones?  And if they gay embryos get rights, can they retain them after they’re born?
