Gingrich Defends Palin On Obama “Death Panel”

Newt Gingrich defended Sarah Palin’s statement that an Obama-run “death panel” will decide the fate of patients if we get health care reform, on ABC’s “This Week.”

“Communal standards historically is a very dangerous concept,” Gingrich told me.

“You are asking us to trust turning power over to the government, when there are clearly people in American who believe in establishing euthanasia, including selective standards.”

Gingrich, debating Howard Dean, had to acknowledge that veterans care works well.  And Dean explains how the plan being put forward is real choice and that small businesses are not forced to participate.  I have to wonder why conservatives push school choice believing that parents will opt out of “government schools,” but somehow they think everyone will flock to government-run health care if given a choice.
