Democratic Congressman’s Life Threatened Over Health Care

Congressman Brad Miller of North Carolina received threatening calls in his DC and Raleigh offices.

“The call to the D.C. office was, ‘Miller could lose his life over this,'” said [Communications Director LuAnn] Canipe. “Our staffer took it so seriously, he confirmed what the guy was saying. He said, ‘Sir is that a threat?’ and at that time our staffer was getting the phone number off caller ID and turning it over to the Capitol Police.”

With violence already having reared its ugly head at town hall events, Congressman Miller is smart to keep his meetings one-on-one, and shun potentially fatal venues.
