Wisconsin Father Convicted In Daughter’s Death: Believed It Was Against God To Get Medical Help

Dale Neumann, 47, was convicted of killing his 11-year-old diabetic daughter by praying rather than getting her medical care.  Madeline Kara Neumann couldn’t talk, walk, eat or drink,  and now both parents face 25 years in jail.

Neumann, who once studied to be a Pentecostal minister, testified Thursday that he believed God would heal his daughter and he never expected her to die. God promises in the Bible to heal, he said.

“If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God,” Neumann testified. “I am not believing what he said he would do.”

Prosecutors said Neumann was “overwhelmed with pride” in his interpretation of the Bible.  Leilani Neumann, Kara’s mother, was convicted of reckless homicide in May.
