RIP Larry Glick

Larry Glick was one of the great all-night radio personalities of all time, ruling the airwaves in Boston from 1996-1992, most notably on WBZ.

His daughter, Tali Israel, said her father’s passion was radio. “He loved radio. He loved show business. He loved making people laugh, making people feel good – that was his passion. That was the highlight of his life as far as career,” she said.

Glick personified the fun-loving light-hearted host, whose sole mission was entertainment.  There was no other agenda but to keep the airwaves rolling with hour after hour of pure enjoyment.

[Current WBZ overnight personality Steve] LeVeille said Glick was known for his sound effects, including a machine gun sound effect, that he used to get rid of callers. “This became so popular that people would beg him to shoot them off the air,” said LeVeille, who had Glick on his show several times.

“It’s instant talk show – just add water – when you have Larry on,” LeVeille said.

Glick was 87 and died following open heart surgery.
